What is an EOC?

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is the central coordination location used to manage a disaster or large scale emergency. When a disaster strikes, pre-identified personnel respond to the EOC. West Sacramento conducts disaster response under the guidelines of California's Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and the Federal National Incident Management System (NIMS). Both systems work well together and are based on the same concepts of a consistent organizational structure (the Incident Command System), identification and allocation of resources, and other emergency management practices.
